Review of the 2023 World Championship

The final match of the 2023 World Deaf Football Championships, the 4th tournament between the men’s and women’s national football teams.

The final match took place at the “MBPJ” Stadium in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) on October 7, 2023, and was attended by the national teams of Ukraine and Japan.

The hosts of the tournament, Malaysia, as well as 18 more teams from countries that advanced from the preliminary stage, took part in the championship. 19 teams competed in the group stage, of which 1/8 teams made it to the playoffs. Then 1/4 finals and semi-final matches.

About 3,000 people attended the World Deaf Football Championships final at the stadium, and more than 1.5 million people watched the match live.

Ukraine won the World Deaf Football Championship and Japan won the silver medal for the first time in the final of the football championship.

The match between Ukraine and Japan ended with a score of 2:1.

It was a tense battle.

The experts did not undertake to give victory to any of the rivals.

The teams of Egypt and Senegal competed for 3rd and 4th places;

The Senegalese pulled out a difficult victory with a score of 2:1.

The matches were widely praised and are considered one of the greatest World Deaf Football Championships finals of all three previous championships and one of the greatest matches in the history of the sport.
