CELEBRATING THE 98TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE INTERNATIONAL …
August 10, 2022 CELEBRATING THE 98TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE INTERNATIONAL SPORTS COMMITTEE OF THE DEAF (ICSD)
For the first time, the event was held not in autumn, but in summer. Historical documents found in the archives reliably confirm that it was on this day – August 10 – 1924 that a decision was made to create a competition (1st INTERNATIONAL SILENT GAMES)
Place: Paris, (France), date: August 10–17, 1924
and the International Sports Committee for the Deaf (ICSD).
Looking at the huge number of championship awards, it is difficult to understand how old these deaf athletes are. The victories and achievements of athletes always cause a feeling of pride and gratitude for the selfless work of talented, stubborn athletes with unbending willpower and their coaching staff.
– Sport is the joy of victory. It is also a victory over oneself, everyday work on the way to self-improvement. Mastery comes from daily practice.
Going in for sports will become possible if you properly organize your activities: attend training, work on yourself, be responsible and disciplined – this is your recipe for sports longevity. Seeing their medals, cups, diplomas, you believe 100%.
Everyone loves to compete. Many deaf athletes both win and lose, anything can happen. But even if the athletes lose, they still have good memories.
No wonder they say that everyone creates his own destiny.
I think that deaf people today are happy because they are passionate about what they love – sports. All deaf sports federations and coaches firmly believe in their athletes, because they need victory like air!
All past Deaflympics were held at the highest level, gave the audience priceless emotions and memories, tears of joy and sadness, bright moments and spectacular performances. The Deaflympics meant a lot not only for us, athletes, coaches, doctors, but for all countries.
And in 2024, the 100th anniversary of the ICSD will be celebrated, it will be a big celebration for the whole world of the deaf.
Congratulations to all on the occasion of the 98th anniversary of deaf sports, and we wish you success in deaf sports. And don’t forget that sport is out of politics, in order to celebrate the spirit of deaf sport around the world and deaf athletes as members of a linguistic minority, the ICSD is deeply committed to advancing the Deaflympics movement and sticks to its motto: PER LUDOS AEQUALITAS (Equality Through Sport). The ICSD Statutes, the ICSD Constitution and related Statutes govern the operation of the ICSD and the Deaflympics movement.
The exercise of the rights and freedoms set forth in this Constitution of the ICSD shall be ensured without discrimination of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, sexual orientation, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property status, birth or other status.
Friendship of all nations!
