DAFC and DIFA: Strengthening Deaf Football Across Africa

The Deaf African Football Association (DAFC) is the national governing body for deaf football and a proud member of DIFA. Established in 2015, DAFC became the second official football association in the African region dedicated to deaf athletes. Since its acceptance into DIFA in 2015, DAFC has actively participated in major international tournaments, including the African Championship and the Deaf World Championships.

2nd International African Football Congress
On January 24-25, 2025, Benin hosted the 2nd International African Football Congress, a key event focused on the growth and cooperation of deaf football across the continent. This congress serves as a permanent platform for fostering business and humanitarian football initiatives, strengthening public diplomacy, and promoting collaboration between African nations in the field of deaf football.

Key topics discussed at the congress included:
• Priorities for African football and business cooperation
• Humanitarian efforts as a driving force for intra-African development
• Approval of the DAFC charter
• Election of the DAFC president and executive committee members

Election Results
With delegates from 13 African nations participating in the elections, the new leadership of DAFC was officially determined. We are pleased to announce that Ibrahim Ajagbe (Gabon) has been elected as the new DAFC President.

The congress was organized by the DAFC Organizing Committee, which includes representatives from the Federation of Sports and Football for the Deaf, African business communities, and key stakeholders in deaf football. The event was actively supported by African country delegates.

The Deaf African Football Confederation (DAFC) is the national football governing body and a member of DIFA. DAFC was established in 2015 and is the second football association in the African region to be named Deaf African Football Confederation . The current Deaf Football Federation allows for the establishment of a national team. DAFC was accepted into DIFA in 2015 and has since competed in the African Championship and the Deaf World Cup.
The 2nd International African Football Congress was held on 24-25 January 2025 in Benine, (African). This congress is a permanent platform for the development of business and humanitarian football cooperation, public diplomacy, working dialogue between the business communities of the African continent and the strengthening of close cooperation between African countries in the field of deaf football.

The main topics of the DAFC congress are: “Priorities of African business and football cooperation at present”, Cooperation in the humanitarian sphere as a driving force for the development of intra-African relations, approval of the DAFC charter, elections of the president and members of the DAFC executive committee.
The organizer of the congress is the Organizing Committee, which includes representatives of the Federation of Sports and Football for the Deaf, the business community of African countries and business circles. The event is actively supported by delegates from African countries.

Following the results of the elections, in which as many as 13 countries took part, a new composition of the members of the executive committee and the president of DAFC were determined.

Ibrahim Ajagbe from Gabon became the president of DAFC.
2 representatives took part in the DAFC congress: DIFA president Iakov Frenkel and ICSD & DIFA football director Brice ALLAIN.

The President of the Deaf African Football confederation (DAFC) is the highest official of the organization, representing its interests in Africa and abroad, including in the International Deaf Football Association (DIFA).

The President is elected by the DAFC congress for a term of 4 years. According to the DAFC Electoral Regulations, the Electoral Committee (7 members) operates on a permanent basis.

The Electoral Committee approves candidates for the post of President, who are nominated by legal entities – members of DAFC. Elections are held by secret ballot at the DAFC congress. To elect the President of DAFC in the first round, one of the candidates must receive 2/3 of the votes.

Ibrahim Adjagbe was elected President of DAFC at the founding general ASSEMBLY of the organization on January 26, 2025.
