Senegal and Japan in semi-finals for the first time

The Senegal team reached the semi-finals of the World Deaf Football Championships, beating the USA team with a score of 1:0. Senegal became the first African team in history to reach the semi-finals of the World Deaf Football Championships.

Also, the Japanese team reached the semi-finals for the first time.

The first semi-finalists of the championship in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) were the teams of Senegal, Ukraine, Egypt and Japan. There are only 4 matches left until the end of the 2023 World Deaf Football Championship. It is unlikely that anyone could have predicted before the start of the tournament which pairs would play in the semi-finals. Previously, the semi-finals were absolutely dominated by the Europeans, now the 2 strongest teams from Africa have changed and 1 team from Asia is reaching the semi-finals of the World Deaf Football Championship. The championship semi-finals will take place on October 3 and 5.
